Well, the high of first knock attempt was just too low. That your parachute didn't open is a clear sign for that.
Explanation for your second knock attempt is what you have already presumed: " So it's because it didnt slide, touch worm or land on vertical picel ?"
Your knock try was kinda hard, because khamskis worm already stand on the edge. And on the way down he didn't touch a pixel, not a vertical, neither a horizontal pixel If he would have slided at the spot, where you knocked him, fall damage would been guaranteed.
