CWT 2014 possible rules modifications

Post by khamski » Fri Jul 11, 2014 2:28 pm

Hey, people!

I propose to follow CL rules for group tie-breaker situations in 2014 edition.
If two players have same amount of points player that won the game (against player with same amount of points) should go through.

Just a proposal, my 2 cents and blah blah blah.

Cheers!
Yeah, really. When you change your cows to pigeons you loose the big fucking sledgehammer called COWS. Without it you will hardly make it to SD.

Also i propose to give CWT forum a place on CWT site.
Give it same color|design scheme as CWT.
And connectivity with CWT site. (Same user profiles, no need to login twice, etc.)

And add previous years archives to that new old cwt forum.
So it will be also a carrier of traditions of this tourney.
I know that it will be uneasy task to setup all this.
And afaik it may take money to buy a forum with full functionality.
I am ready to donate for that. If it's not too expensive of course.
And i will donate to CWT anyway also.

Also CWT needs 2 new buttons.

DONATE for Webadmin
DONATE for CA$H prize

(86.31 KiB) Not downloaded yet
Yeah button have to be visible like teasers.
And be there all the time not just when donation period started.
Webadmin does helluva big job so if someone has a will to support his work it has to be possible.
Same about prize money.
Anyone has to have an easy way to throw few coins to CWT cash prize during a year.

We should have a poll about that during the application phase of the tournament, so we attract more people for the idea.

Cheers, but according to my expectations there will only be a few donations for me or at least not sufficiently enough to make me happy. So that would only be a waste of money that could’ve become the winners’.

"If two players have same amount of points player that won the game (against player with same amount of points) should go through." Does this apply before or after Round ratio?

Linkto UCL regulations pdf. (Page 11.)
http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Dow ... WNLOAD.pdf

== quote
If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches,
the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in descending
order):
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams
in question;
c) higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
d) higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches
played among the teams in question;
e) if, after having applied criteria a) to d), teams still have an equal ranking,
criteria a) to d) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the
teams in question to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does
not lead to a decision, criteria f) to h) apply;
f) superior goal difference from all group matches played;
g) higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
h) higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question,
as well as its association, over the previous five seasons (see
paragraph 9.02).
== quote ends

It goes nor before or after it goes instead.
I propose to go UCL way.
If two players have same points we check stats BETWEEN THEM not OVERALL STATS.

This will prevent tie-breaker situation when player who has same points as his groupmate but lost to him still goes through.

Of course it is worth the effort.
Forum is a history of CWT.
And it belongs to CWT site not NNN site.
Also it is still a great tool for communication.
That present chatTab thing can be linked to forums in a way.
I mean chatlog somehow automatically be archived in forums.
That way forums will gather all information on CWT and gather it through the years.

Well, i wasn't speaking only about you tbh.
A webadmin in general. In years webadmins may change but the system must stay on.
I think those buttons are needed.
It's not hard to implement and the effect will be significant.
I know a lot of people who are willing to help CWT and are nostalgic to it.
Also there are new members who are responsible and eager to help.

Thing is when people come by cwtsite along the year they will get an opportunity to transform their warm feeling to the game and the tourney into some useful action.

Nowdays it is possible only in the limited period of time.
Or at least it don't pop to site visitor at all.

I’ve actually put some effort in making the forum less important during the past years. I think forums as they’re known in our community are an outdated tool for communication. Hence for me this is absolutely not worth the effort. However, since CWT is open source and community-driven (not Zemke-driven), it doesn’t necessarily need to be me who puts effort into this. So, if you feel it’s worth the effort, you can gladly work on it. I’d also help introduce people into the system of CWT.

Okay then, if it wasn’t about me, but about website maintainers in general, then you’ve apparently chosen the wrong forum, because this one is specifically about CWT.

InfoBox and Forums both are very useful tools.
No need to choose between the two.

- InfoBox is awesome for dynamic communication, game arrangement, event sharing.
- Forums are awesome for more lenghty discussions, polls, saving facts for the history, etc.

Saying that forums are outdated is not right at all.
Whole internet use forums on a daily basis to discuss things.
Same as they use instant messengers to keep contact.

Different tools.
Both very useful.

If current admin don't want CWT forums on CWT website then it would be a pain to implement.
But if community wants it back i will take the job to bring it back.

I was talking about CWT adminitstration. Admins change system stays.
As you rightly said this tournament is community-driven.
So for the sake of you and admins who will come after you those donate buttons would be great.
It's strange you fight against it now. Last year you were very enthusiastic about the idea.

What's wrong if nice DONATE CWT button will be hanging on the site all year long.
Eye-candy thing popping to the eyes of the viewer. Gathering money drop by drop. Cent by cent. All year long.
It would be cool.
Seems like DONATE to WEBADMIN became a bad idea to you. So at least implement DONATE to CWT.

Anyway just my 2 cents.
Just sharing ideas in a friendly way.
Peace.

do you rly think its a good idear to have a money collect eye catcher for CWT in a leauge wich is familiar ? the banner would totally get on my nuts, also what you say cent by cent all year long , as if players would play CWT for a low budget price even if it was 500$ for first place, who can life with this?? also cwt shouldnt be about money. i totally like the ideaer of the trophys for 1-3 place. sum nice memory u dont give away for a twix and a coke and your idears are strange because of your inactivity. if you look at the onl no body is playen.. better make thoughts about that

I still like the idea about donations for CWT staff, I just think that it won’t work out.

@Zemke:
These buttons won't hurt anyway.
I'll ask Latip to work out some sort of design for both buttons.
Won't be fast but still a move forward.
After that we will continue our discussion.
